So you Want to Attend SMXgig, Then?

REGISTRATION  

SMXgig has become the year's largest face-to-face get-together of electronically networked aviators. We hope you'll plan to attend because we expect this year's gig to be the best ever.

First come, first served! The hotel is otherwise sold out during that weekend, so it will be nice to know you've got a place in line.

New this year is our "Bring a Friend" referral program! For each new SMXgigger that you refer, and who registers and attends, you'll receive a $10 discount from your gig fee! (There is no maximum.) The gig fee will be $250 per person this year (subject to reduction by bringing new attendees!).

Important: 

This year, our final rooming lists are due to the hotel on May 19, 2009, which will guarantee space and the group rate.  The hotel will accept additional room reservations after that, on a space- and rate-available basis.  They will try their best to accommodate us after that date, but the hotel is already sold out for the weekend. Of course, any SMXgiggers who register after that may also room with someone with an existing room ... with their consent, of course!

Just as in previous years, there will be one flat all-encompassing "gig" fee that covers all events that involve significant out-of-pocket costs for the organizers. The fee is $250 per person, and will cover:

- Friday afternoon welcome party and hors d'oeuvres
- Friday evening dinner banquet, featuring Cathe Fish
  (see Schedule of Events for more)
- Saturday and Sunday tech sessions
- Saturday SMX-style BBQ lunch buffett
- Saturday evening dinner at McKeon-Phillips Winery in Santa Maria
- Meeting rooms and coffee service at the Santa Maria Radisson
- BFUB transportation to (and from) McKeon-Phillips Winery

Because this is the 21st anniversary (!) of SMXgig, our room block may fill up sooner than usual, so please register as soon as possible to guarantee a room. This year, room reservations (discounted room rate to be determined) may be made by calling the hotel directly at 805.928.8000 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. (Pacific time) Monday through Friday. Be sure to identify yourself as part of the SMXgig Group. If you are unable to call the hotel during those times, just email Cory and she'll make sure your reservation is made. In that case, we'll need a credit card number to guarantee the first night's stay.

Be sure you check in as a SMXgig attendee and get the special rate. Gold Rewards points may also be used for your lodging - if in doubt, let us know, and we'll check with the hotel to confirm that you have compatible points. The hotel has also noted our preference for rampside rooms, early registration can only help, but of course, the rampside rooms are subject to availability depending on how many existing guests are in those rooms. We should get first dibs on the rooms featuring the ultra-comfortable SelectComfort (Sleep Number) beds. We'll feel rested in spite of ourselves!
